Just Do What You Love...!

Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.

~ David Frost

Hi to all my friends,

With this picture of the 7-Mile bridge down to the beautiful Florida Keys I'm wishing you all a very Happy Sunday!

I will NOT be blogging from now on for a while, hubby and I will be gone soon on a long journey to Europe - and yes, we both are very excited about our probably last adventure in our life. :-))

I'll be back blogging here for sure, as soon as we will have internet connection over there. In the mean time please don't forget me, come back to my humbled old (!) blog, have a look around here from time to time. I'm looking forward to your visits, to your comments - and to let you know about everything we will experience over there. I'll share it with you... I promise  :-)

...until then, stay tuned, be good and I'll see you here again....!

With Love,

~Susanne

Sail away from the safe harbor...

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.

- Mark Twain

HAPPY SUNDAY to all of You!

How to recognize a true Floridian.....

25 Ways to know if you are a TRUE Floridian...

1. Socks are only for bowling.
2. You never use an umbrella because the rain will be over in five minutes.
3. A good parking place has nothing to do with distance from the store, but everything to do with shade.
4. Your winter coat is made of denim.
5. You can tell the difference between fire ant bites and mosquito bites.
6. You're younger than thirty but some of your friends are over 65.
7. Anything under 70 degrees is chilly.
8. You've driven through Yeehaw Junction.
9. You know that no other grocery store can compare to Publix.
10. You know that anything under a Category 3 just isn't worth waking up for.
11. You dread love bug season.
12. You are on a first name basis with the hurricane list. They aren't Hurricane Charley or Hurricane Frances. You know them as Andrew, Charley, Frances, Ivan, Jeanne, Wilma, Irene, Cheryl, Rita, Mary, Alison
13. You know what a snowbird is and when they'll leave.
14. You think a six-foot alligator is actually pretty average.
15. 'Down South' means Key West.
16. Flip-flops are everyday wear. Shoes are for business meetings and church, but you HAVE worn flip flops to church before.
17. You have a drawer full of bathing suits, and one sweatshirt.
18. You get annoyed at the tourists who feed seagulls.
19. A mountain is any hill 100 feet above sea level.
20. You know the four seasons really are: hurricane season, love bug season, tourist season and summer.
21. You've hosted a hurricane party.
22. You can pronounce Okeechobee, Kissimmee , Withlacoochee , Thonotosassa and Micanopy.
23. You understand why it's better to have a friend with a boat, than have a boat yourself.
24. You've worn shorts and used the A/C on Christmas and New Years.
25. You recognize Miami-Dade as 'Northern Cuba.'

Hi my friends,

Since I'm living also in Florida I have something for you today to smile about! It's not my wisdom... I've found this on Facebook two days ago... Facebook is a good source for a lot of funny stuff...!

Read it with a smile and.... HAPPY SUNDAY! :-)

The Snowbirds Are Here...

The snowbirds are definitely here - captured at Cocoa Beach, FL 2012-10-25

But, please what is a "snowbird" anyway.....? Wiki has the answer, like to anything else :-))

The term "snowbird" is used to describe people from the U.S. Northeast, U.S. Midwest, or Canada who spend a large portion of winter in warmer locales such as California, Arizona, Florida,Texas, the Carolinas, or elsewhere along the Sun Belt region of the southern and southwest United States, Mexico, and areas of the Caribbean. It is also used for people from eastern Canada or northern Canada who migrate to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, for the winter. Victoria is known for having very mild winters by Canadian standards, and has an annual "blossom count" in mid-February to prove its warm winter status.

Snowbirds are typically retirees, and business owners who have a second home in a warmer location or whose business can be easily moved from place to place, such as flea market and swap meet vendors. Some snowbirds carry their homes with them, as campers (mounted on bus or truck frames) or as boats following the east coast Intra-coastal waterway.

In the past snowbirds were frequently wealthy persons with independent incomes who maintained several seasonal residences and shifted residence with the seasons to avail themselves of the best time to be at each location; this custom has declined considerably due to changing patterns of taxation and the relative ease of long-distance travel compared with earlier times.

Many of these "snowbirds" also use their vacation time to declare permanent residency in low- or no-tax income tax states (where the tax bases are augmented by high tourism taxes), and claim lower non-resident income taxes in their home states. Canadian snowbirds usually make sure they retain residency in Canada in order to retain health benefits.

The right to vote for local office is governed by local law, so it may be possible to vote for local offices in both places if the locality permits nonresident voting based on property ownership, but representation in the United States federal Congress is for residents as enumerated by the decennial census and voting in U.S. federal elections in more than one jurisdiction is deemed to be electoral fraud.

I'm wishing you a very HAPPY and relaxing SUNDAY!
~Susanne

Hurricane Isaac's path

Cacti bushes, captured in Arizona

Hi my friends,

it's Sunday again and I hope you all have a good one, where ever you are!

Two days ago we were fearing Hurricane "Isaac"'s path coming over Florida and today we are lucky and happy... he turned out more to the waters into the Gulf of Mexico and Florida is out of danger, except Key West get wet. You never know up to the last days which direction the storm will really turn.

Back in time, when we were living down in Key West, we were evacuating many times - and nothing happened at home. And by many other storms we sat at home, boarded up with a lot of water and a bigger stock of can food as usual...had no electricity for some days - and get soaked with to much water....almost in to the living room.

But today we are happy and thankful not to had to do anything from all above.

Wishing you all a safe and lucky Sunday too!
~Susanne

HAPPY SUNDAY - #14 and a double Rainbow for YOU!

A beautiful double rainbow over our house in Florida 04-20-2012

Have you ever seen a double rainbow? I had the great chance to photograph one on this Friday. I never have seen in my life such a beautiful and double rainbow like this one! I made my wish.... :-)

A rainbow is an optical and meteorological phenomenon that causes a spectrum of light to appear in the sky when the Sun shines on to droplets of moisture in the Earth's atmosphere. It takes the form of a multicolored arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.

In a "primary rainbow", the arc shows red on the outer part, and violet on the inner side. This rainbow is caused by light being refracted while entering a droplet of water, then reflected inside on the back of the droplet and refracted again when leaving it.

In a double rainbow, a second arc is seen outside the primary arc, and has the order of its colors reversed, red facing toward the other one, in both rainbows. This second rainbow is caused by light reflecting twice inside water droplets. (Text Wikipedia)

Saying Good Bye!

Source of the quote:

I'm saying now GOOD BYE to you my dear friends.

This will be my last post for a while - today is the 6. year anniversary
of this blog - it's time to rest a little bit, time to breath fresh air.

I had a great time, I learned a lot and I met so many wonderful people, like YOU! Thanks for all your loyal visits, for your inputs and kind comments over the years. I love you ALL!

It's time for me now to do something else, it's time to think about new directions to go. You'll still see me blogging here and there but no more every day, like I did. So, please come back from time to time, once a week (or maybe twice) and say "Hello" to my humbled, slowly aging blog - I will be happy to see you visiting again. :-))

And I'll tell you later more about all that new stuff I'll be doing, o.k.? :-))

Stick with me and thank you for everything!
Susanne :-)

Everybody knows...

Street decoration in Cocoa Village - I love this idea how they tell people what time of the year it is :)

Pie, pie, pie....I love pie!

Hi my friends,
We took a ride to Cocoa Village the last day and it was worth it. There was a Farmer's Market and a lot of pretty scenes. The village itself is a "bijoux" - a gem! I'll show you some pictures about later.

Thank you ALL for your wonderful comments to my post(s).

Waiting for the Pizza

Waiting for the Pizza
Captured in Down Town Melbourne

Ideas are like pizza dough, made to be tossed around.
Anna Quindlen
Hi my friends,
Thanks again for all the wonderful comments to my ZEN photo from yesterday, so happy you liked that one so much :)

We took recently a stroll trough Melbourne's Down Town, a very pretty and picturesque place, cute and colorful architecture, nice coffee shops, some bars and also some galleries. There is something interesting and funny to see and to find for every one.
In the next some days I'll show you more photos I've made on that afternoon. This picture of the bar stools in front of the Pizza delivery place is one of them.
I hope you'll enjoy!
Have a nice day  - and see you tomorrow?
Susanne

As one of the oldest community...

The entrance to the port of Fort Pierce,FL

with all the beautiful yachts and fishing boats lined up

About Fort Pierce

As one of the oldest communities on the east coast of Florida, Fort Pierce has borne witness to the changing tides of history - as well as the changing tides of the Atlantic Ocean - for over 104 years. The days of one-room log houses and quiet river commerce has given way to diverse possibilities as the city has grown to over 41,000 residents, but the echoes of the rural past can still be felt in the peaceful quality of the lives our residents lead just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of both West Palm Beach and Orlando. Ours is a diverse yet neighborly community, embracing both the richness of our heritage and the promise of the future in St. Lucie County Downtown, within sight of the timeless waters of the Indian River Lagoon, affords our residents contemporary shopping, dining and a range of entertainment and activities.

Modern educational and research facilities, like top-ranked Indian River Community College, the $6 million Smithsonian Institution Research Center, the Manatee Observation and Education Center and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, live in harmony with the completely renovated 1925 City Hall and the current restoration of the historic, 1,200 seat Sunrise Theatre, which will serve as a regional performing arts center.

The community's vision for the future captures our rich, colorful history and blends it - beautifully - into the spirit of modern life.

Hi my friends,

the pictures above are made at the harbor in Fort Pierce, Florida. I've enjoyed that afternoon there doing some photos. As an artist myself and hubby too, we have also visited the Backus-Museum there by the waterfront. Photos about that visit will be online tomorrow. So, come back tomorrow to see the art in the park.

And thank you for all your wonderful comments from yesterday :)

See you tomorrow,
Susanne
