Hurricane Isaac's path

Cacti bushes, captured in Arizona

Hi my friends,

it's Sunday again and I hope you all have a good one, where ever you are!

Two days ago we were fearing Hurricane "Isaac"'s path coming over Florida and today we are lucky and happy... he turned out more to the waters into the Gulf of Mexico and Florida is out of danger, except Key West get wet. You never know up to the last days which direction the storm will really turn.

Back in time, when we were living down in Key West, we were evacuating many times - and nothing happened at home. And by many other storms we sat at home, boarded up with a lot of water and a bigger stock of can food as usual...had no electricity for some days - and get soaked with to much water....almost in to the living room.

But today we are happy and thankful not to had to do anything from all above.

Wishing you all a safe and lucky Sunday too!
~Susanne

Nature is so powerful...

Nature is so powerful, so strong. Capturing its essence is not easy - your work becomes a dance with light and the weather.
It takes you to a place within yourself.

Hi my friends,

thank you all for your kind comments to my wordless Sunday post!

This new picture above is about weather, stormy clouds and rain. I made the picture yesterday in the same park where my "Wordless Sunday" photograph was taken. I had two minutes only to shoot, the wind was picking up like crazy and it begun to rain. Weather can change very quick here in the rainy season - I love to feel the big rain drops on my skin!

I hope I could catch the pretty spooky atmosphere that always reigns before the storm and the rain set in. I love the weather like this!!

Have y'all a wonderful Wednesday.
See you later....

A part of the past...

Photography can only represent the present. Once photographed, the subject becomes part of the past.

~ Berenice Abbott ~

Hi my friends,

This is now another picture out of my archives - it was raining to much over here to get out with the camera.

And we had also a leak on the top of our RV it had to be fixed quick, before the next storm and heavy rain will set in!

I want to say: THANK YOU for all those nice comments and compliments to my yesterdays post, you make me happy every day - Love you all!

Have a wonderful weekend coming up and see you tomorrow here on this spot again :)

Saturdays Rain and stormy Winds

It is not sunshine every day in paradise! Saturday we got soaked with heavy rainfall and strong winds, for hours!

But it seems, not all are scared of bad weather.

Cloud Impressions after the Storm

What a big and impressive cloud between my two palms in the yard!

This is the view to the south down in my street....

and this is the view to the north where more of the thunder clouds were forming - and it was raining very hard pretty soon again...

...and then, finally it was over!

Golden reflections in the water.

Yesterday the rain never stopped in paradise - Thunderstorms were rumbling on and off and it seems it will never end to be gray and wet. But to the evening finally it stopped and at sunset time we had these wonderful cloud formations around the house. Aren't they majestic and impressive? I had to take some pictures!

Official Start of Hurrican Season was 1. of June

That was yesterday! We had a dark, windy and rainy start of Hurrican Season 2007. Later in the day the weather man was announcing this all as tropical storm "Barry". Today the sun is back again in paradise - and every one is happy - of course.

And this is a old picture I made a half hour befor Hurrican Dennies came over Key West, in 2005. You can see how some people really enjoyed the waves at Whitehead Pier - it's like getting a free shower.

A Rainy Day in Paradise

This is how it looks today in paradise. We have rain, strong wind and thunderstorms just now. Hoping strongly tomorrow we will have the sunshine back again!

At the end of the afternoon storm the sun came back out and painted the sky in a brilliant, burning red before she melted into the ocean.

There were very dark clouds looming in the sky on this particular afternoon because of an upcoming storm in the Everglades. Behind the wall of clouds formed a round white one that really looked like a UFO, doesn't it?.....maybe it was.....!

No, no.... don't worry! There is no storm or Hurrican coming just now over Key West - so far we were really very lucky untill today. This is a older picture of the arriving waves of Hurrican Dennis (in 2005) and it show you how storm surges can be a big fun for some people out there at Whitehead Pier.

It's gray and very windy today in "paradise"... that's why I put up this photo from 2 palmtrees at Higg's Beach in Key West. They match todays weather situation here the most, just now. We are waiting for the sun to come back again.

If you look closer you will recognize my favorite color again in this photograph - yes it's blue! I call it "Triplets" because they are holding together strong, fighting all the storms, winds and waves out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Stormy clouds were forming at Fort Zachary Taylor while I was waiting for the sunset that never happend. Don't they look like whipped cream on a piece of Key Lime Pie?
