As one of the oldest communities on the east coast of Florida, Fort Pierce has borne witness to the changing tides of history - as well as the changing tides of the Atlantic Ocean - for over 104 years. The days of one-room log houses and quiet river commerce has given way to diverse possibilities as the city has grown to over 41,000 residents, but the echoes of the rural past can still be felt in the peaceful quality of the lives our residents lead just a short distance from the hustle and bustle of both West Palm Beach and Orlando. Modern educational and research facilities, like top-ranked Indian River Community College, the $6 million Smithsonian Institution Research Center, the Manatee Observation and Education Center and Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute, live in harmony with the completely renovated 1925 City Hall and the current restoration of the historic, 1,200 seat Sunrise Theatre, which will serve as a regional performing arts center.

the pictures above are made at the harbor in Fort Pierce, Florida. I've enjoyed that afternoon there doing some photos. As an artist myself and hubby too, we have also visited the Backus-Museum there by the waterfront. Photos about that visit will be online tomorrow. So, come back tomorrow to see the art in the park.

I'm happy! So many of you liked my post from yesterday and made my day with your wonderful comments and compliments, thank you ALL so much!!

One day ago we took a little drive down to Fort Pierce and this photo above was made in the boat harbor there. I love the tropical ambiance in this picture, it reflects for me the feeling of freedom, adventure, quality time on a warm sunny day gliding slowly over the waters and it makes you wish for traveling more, right? :)
