Are you talking to me....???

Are you talking to me.......??????

Hi my friends,
thanks for all the nice and wonderful comments yesterday!

I promised you a little surprise some days ago, do you remember?
I will have from now on every Thursday a GUEST BLOGGER.
She's a wonderful blog friend of mine and we've decided to do this guest blogging together
and give it a try the first time on coming Thursday.

So, then: DON'T miss out coming next Thursday!!!!
She will write something and show you pictures about her adventurous outdoor activities and her travels allover in the U.S. and so much more. I'm sure, it will be interesting and big fun to read her posts!
And in reverse, I'll be a guest blogger on her site with my photography.

Keep this in mind and come back every Thursday, and to visit BOTH blogs, o.k.?

If anyone of you is interested to do the same with me, I have one "seat" left for the right candidate.
Just let me know, o.k.! :))
Have a wonderful week.

Watch out - They are coming!

A visitor in our yard

Locust
is the swarming phase of short-horned grasshoppers of the family Acrididae. These are species that can breed rapidly under suitable conditions and subsequently become gregarious and migratory. They form bands as nymphs and swarms as adults—both of which can travel great distances, rapidly stripping fields and greatly damaging crops.

The origin and apparent extinction of certain species of locust—some of which reached 6 inches (15 cm) in length—are unclear.

Locusts are an edible insect and are considered a delicacy in some developing nations and in history.

Hi my friends,
...and, I can assure you we have NOT eaten this colorful locust for dinner yesterday....LOL... he just appeared in front of the garage door. I don't hope there will be 100000 more of them showing up today....*smile*...
I liked his beautiful color and design and he was not camera shy at all.

Thank you very much for all your wonderful compliments to my promotion in "1steAngel-Art-Magazine" from yesterday. If you like to read it again, I have posted a permanent link to that site in the first box on the top in the right column of my blog. Go and have a look anytime. It was a greet feeling to be recognized for all my photographic work after all these 35 years to be in this great business :))

I wish you all a lovely day.
Susanne

A pretty face with yellow eyes

Portrait of a big white Heron - captured down in Key West, Florida

Hi my friends,

I don't know to much to say to this photo - just enjoy it, ok?

It's still raining today here in Florida, on and off.....
it's quiet a boring day, I would say :)

Thank you for ALL the wonderful compliments I got yesterday, my friends. Sunsets are like a magnet, people always love to see it for real or in a photo.

Enjoy your Friday - weekend is around the corner...yeah!

Another cute face....

Baby Raccoon was hiding from me behind the palm tree and his mama ran behind a bush as they saw me coming (too) close to them. What a cute expression!

Hi my friends,

again: thank you, thank you for all the yesterdays comments on my blog. I'm sure you'll like this cute face too. (All the pictures are (like always) click-able to see it bigger).

I have no Christmas stress at all this year. The cards are written and sent out to my friends and loved ones in oversea.

And we are not giving each other gifts anymore, since many years now.

I hope you'll finish all your shopping good and soon
and will have time to enjoy the Holidays.

Have a magical day!
Susanne

Yes, my CALENDARS 2010 are for sale. It's still time to buy one or two. Make someone happy, someone you love, your friends - or even your Mother in Law ;)

From Utah to Wyoming

We missed the church of the Mormons in Salt Lake City because of to much traffic on this Monday morning. We decided to take I-189 and going towards Yellowstone NP and to see the Grand Tetons.

On the way to Jackson WY we have seen a lot of wildlife beside the road

Sheep, sheep, sheep... as far you can see

And this little cute fellow too - yes, it's a prairie dog :)

A sheep herder on his horse and a dog was rounding up his hundreds of sheep

Pretty pastel landscape
(btw, all the photos are click able to see it bigger)

Beautiful colors and sand banks at the Spanish River, WY

We have seen hundreds of white pelicans (!) sitting on the sand banks of the Green River

The sign to the history of the Spanish River or Rio Verde or Green River

And then we got this spectacular view to the snow covered Rocky's

Big cow ranches on our way - but I still have not seen a real cowboy :)

Coming closer to Jackson....but still many miles away

Still miles to go... America is BIG!!! :)

And here they are: The majestic Grand Tetons mountains in the Grand Tetons NP

Today Tuesday we were touring around in the NP, shooting pictures and looking out for wildlife like: Bears, Elks, Mountain Lions...the only one wild animal we have seen was ONE Buffalo - and he was VERY impressive and VERY big :)
and I forgot to click my camera...LOL... :)

Hi my friends,

thank you so much for all the nice compliments to my last post! I'm happy that you liked that photo so much :)

Today we were touring around in the Grand Tetons NP and tomorrow we will visit Yellowstone and the Geysers of course - if the weather Gods are friendly with us. Today we had a short rain and for tomorrow they're talking about rain again.... well, we will see. Otherwise we will heading towards Cody and try to visit the Buffalo Bill Museum :)
I'm still looking for a REAL Cowboy...LOL... if you know one, please contact me :)

Stay tuned... see ya'...

Visitors at Christmas Day

She is not often here, but yesterday it seems she enjoyed the warming sunshine on the fence in the backyard

And he don't mind at all, to steal the cat food

And "Me-Me" was just happy to be around us for a little while before she runs away to another house to see if the food is better over there

Big White Heron - A little Photo Story

Big white Heron bird in front of the East Martello Museum looking for food

For some minutes it seems he liked to pose for me...

But then, he decided: what enough is, is enough and just walked away, out of the scene...

...and flew away, pretty low first, some feet only over the road...

and then up in the air, higher and higher.

At least I got some nice shots for my blog!

Harry and Jimmy

Yesterday afternoon, after the big heavy rainfall, I had a new visitor in my garden. I called this Ibis bird "Harry". He was very busy picking at all the fat worms, snails and other "bug-goodies".

But he was not the only one
new visitor....

May I introduce you to "Jimmy"......?

Jimmy is new in the environment and is quite different than all the other brown-red chickens we have running around the house. He is white, tall, can barely crow - but he tries! And he has to fight very hard to defend his new territory.

While Harry is gone by now, it seems that Jimmy won the fights against all the other roosters and decided to stay.

Fighting for food...

What the heck is he spying on?

Happy Chicken Family - but "Papa Rooster" is still the boss on the spot!

Mmmmh...kids, come over here to pick - the corn meal is special good today!

He is getting ready to fight for his territory - sneaking in to the scene from behind.....

...and started blowing up his feathers already, then he saw me coming closer with my camera - and he changed his mind! To bad for the photographer - I missed probably some very nice cock fight pictures!

Birthday Guests in my Yard

These two guys were first to wake me up this morning - much too early -
to give me a birthday wish.

And he was wearing his best bow tie - extra dressing for my birthday , I guess.

And she showed me her wonderful new make up - more extras for me.....

And she started to sing me a birthday song: quack, quack, quack..... and then she left!

As you can see I had a lovely group together already this morning that came to congratulate me for my 58th birthday. I am a lucky girl today! :-))

All the Roosters of Key West

I spent a whole afternoon chasing all the roosters to get some shots of these animals who are totally dominating the streets of Key West. For all who don't know about the story behind the roosters here on this island: They used them for fights when the Cuban population came to Key West in the last century. Today they are wild, protected and grow and grow and grow....

You will see them even at the cemetary picking for food and crowing

I call this one "the dancing rooster"

And as he saw me coming too close with my camera he run away, like running for his life.

And don't disturb these two! They must have a very important, personal meeting together.
