All Human Actions...

All human actions have one or more of these seven causes:

chance,
nature,
compulsions,
habit,
reason,
passion,
desire.

I wish you ALL a wonderful weekend
and a very HAPPY SUNDAY!

Hurricane Isaac's path

Cacti bushes, captured in Arizona

Hi my friends,

it's Sunday again and I hope you all have a good one, where ever you are!

Two days ago we were fearing Hurricane "Isaac"'s path coming over Florida and today we are lucky and happy... he turned out more to the waters into the Gulf of Mexico and Florida is out of danger, except Key West get wet. You never know up to the last days which direction the storm will really turn.

Back in time, when we were living down in Key West, we were evacuating many times - and nothing happened at home. And by many other storms we sat at home, boarded up with a lot of water and a bigger stock of can food as usual...had no electricity for some days - and get soaked with to much water....almost in to the living room.

But today we are happy and thankful not to had to do anything from all above.

Wishing you all a safe and lucky Sunday too!
~Susanne

We arrived in Key West - again!

After leaving Titusville FL and spending a night on a parking lot of a Wal-Mart in Florida-City, we arrived in the Florida Keys.
And this is now the breathtaking, turquoise color of the Gulf of Mexico in the Keys! Every time I see it it's more overwhelming for me - it is so beautiful and the colors are real my friends and no Photoshop at all! It IS that beautiful!!!

Driving over the Seven-Mile-Bridge is always very impressiv,
to the left the is the deep blue Atlantic and on the other site the turqouise blue
Gulf of Mexico.
To the right you can see some of the old Seven-Mile-Bridge.

After a 150 miles drive from the mainland you'll arrive in Key West and you will see this welcome sign entering the island.

And of course, our first stop was on Memorial Beach to "suck in" the beauty of this carribean island! :)

The next morning we got up early again to see the stunning sunrise in Key West. And we were not the only one there. As you can see it in the picture, there were some "love birds" already enjoying each other in the rising sunlight. :)

I know now how beautiful sunrises are!

Morning has broken.... what a beautiful morning!

And there were also "other birds" enjoying the warm sunbeams.

We are now visiting good old friends here in Key West, that's why I'm able to post some pictures again to share with you all the beauty. Thank you Susan (my best friend in Key West!) for your great hospitality!!

I will show you later maybe more photos about this little crazy island Key West - I did a lot of them....LOL... they will be good picture material for my next book. :)

Postcards from Charleston #2

Carriage tours on Kings Street

Flowers, flowers everywhere...

Sight through the fence

Light and shadows - and colorful houses

And peaceful places with inviting benches, this all is Charleston!

Well, we are happy again. The storm is over, moved up North and was not that bad at all, nothing close to that what they were predicting. We got a lot of rain and almost no wind or gusts and here where I'm living it felt like no storm at all, just rain and nothing else.

Coming from Key West I know now how to handle Hurricanes and evacuations and just now I'm crossing my fingers for my friends down there, who HAVE to evacuate from "Ike" coming pretty soon over the island.

THE ROCK

Seeing these rocks of coral in my yard reminds me that we are sitting here on nothing but a large coral rock all the time. Matter fact, some people call Key West "The Rock".

Five more Things to do in Key West - Series 9

Today we will visit the Key West Art Museum what is located in the old Custom House.

We will visit also the beautiful and relaxing garden of the West Martello Tower down at Higg's Beach and admire all the flowers blooming in the yards.

Then, it's time to have a drink somewhere! You can choose what place you like better: The Green Parrot Bar, the "first and the last bar at A-1".... or....

The legendary Captain Tony's Bar where you can meet on certain days Captain Tony himself, an old charming man who had some drinks and talks together with Ernest Hemingway, back in the good old days.....

Or, maybe you'll prefer to sit under a palmtree to enjoy the last sunlights of an other intresting and happy day in paradise.

Sunset Celebration Every Night

Hundreds of people celebrate the setting sun every night at Mallory Square.

Performers, jugglers, fire eater, clowns and escape artists are entertaining every night the tourists. Artists and craft people are selling their wares - where you can meet me and see my work.

A big attraction at the Hilton is Dominic and his trained cats, better known as the "Catman and his catshow". Family fun for everyone!

Very impressive clouds

It looks almost like an exploding volcano, doesn't it? I saw this interesting formation of clouds building up over Key West last fall.

Up up to the Sky...

Look up in the sky and see all the palms in the Florida clouds - this is a tropical view at Smathers Beach in a warm, Sunday evening sunset light. This is the picture of Florida that I always have in my mind.

Mallory Palms

What a different view at the Mallory Square palms.... right? It is a reflexion from the backside at the mirror on my car.
