When People are Happy...

People don't notice whether it's winter or summer when they're happy.

Hi my friends,

Yesterday was my Birthday and yes, I had a wonderful, great day! Thank you ALL for all the over 300 congratulations and good wishes!

And this was exactly what I did in the afternoon: sitting on the beach, enjoying the sun, doing some photographs - and after all that, having a BIG ice creme ....mmmhhh...!

It felt like back in my child hood days: GOOD!!

It's great to have Birthdays! :-))
I agree so much with the quote by Anton Chekhov.

Thanks for visiting and have a great day too!!

The World Largest Seashell Collection

I have the world's largest collection of seashells. I keep it on all the beaches of the world... perhaps you've seen it.

Hi my friends,

What a wonderful day at the beach, isn't it? You're invited all to come, there are still enough open spaces. And bring your umbrella, enough water and the sun protection creme with you .... it's hot today! :))

I wish you a happy Wednesday. For some personal reasons I will not be online and there will be NO "Wordless Sunday" post this time, sorry. Will be back some when next week.

Have a good time!
Susanne

Is the world now up-side-down - or what?

Is the world now up-side-down...or what???

Hi my friends,
Thank you so much for commenting on my last post, I appreciate every one of you!
Do you like this photo?
It shows an unusual angel or also called POV.
But don't worry, nothing is up-side-down in your world!
It's just the artist freedom to capture, to produce and to present his art in his own way.
(Cruisship "The Norwegian Sun" is leaving Port Canaveral)

I wish you a NOT to much up-side-down world today! Take it easy and I'll see ya'!

The umbrellas was made for....

The umbrella was made for rainy days, the white man uses it for the sun.

Hi my friends,

This photo was made on new years day at the beach, before I got sick. I guess the people with those umbrellas moved back into the dunes because of the strong wind we had directly at the shore. These umbrellas were a nice colorful addition to my shot.

Yesterday I felt better than I do today - I really hope it will be over soon with this annoying flu. It blocks me from being creative and from doing productive work. What's up....everything will be fine one day, I have to be patience... one day it will be over!

Thank you all for all your good wishes, also on facebook! I do appreciate your words and comments also in the new year, my friends!

Have a wonderful day!
~Susanne

Are you talking to me....???

Are you talking to me.......??????

Hi my friends,
thanks for all the nice and wonderful comments yesterday!

I promised you a little surprise some days ago, do you remember?
I will have from now on every Thursday a GUEST BLOGGER.
She's a wonderful blog friend of mine and we've decided to do this guest blogging together
and give it a try the first time on coming Thursday.

So, then: DON'T miss out coming next Thursday!!!!
She will write something and show you pictures about her adventurous outdoor activities and her travels allover in the U.S. and so much more. I'm sure, it will be interesting and big fun to read her posts!
And in reverse, I'll be a guest blogger on her site with my photography.

Keep this in mind and come back every Thursday, and to visit BOTH blogs, o.k.?

If anyone of you is interested to do the same with me, I have one "seat" left for the right candidate.
Just let me know, o.k.! :))
Have a wonderful week.

Safety and enjoyment of Florida's public beaches

The red flag - captured at the Space Coast, FL

The safety and enjoyment of Florida’s public beaches
are affected by changes in tide and surf conditions. To minimize the risks of drowning or serious injury, the Florida Coastal Management Program worked with the Florida Beach Patrol Chiefs Association, the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA), and the International Life Saving Federation to develop a uniform warning flag program for use by Florida’s beachfront communities.

Florida’s uniform Beach Warning Flags come in four colors
red, yellow, green and purple, plus a second red
imprinted with a Do-Not Swim Logo. The flags are accompanied by interpretive signs that explain the meaning of each color. While beach warning flags provide general warnings of overall surf conditions, they do not specifically advise the public of the presence of rip currents.

Why does Florida need a uniform warning flag system?
Many residents and visitors travel to different parts of the state to enjoy Florida's wonderful public beaches, and many beach communitiespost warning flags. Differences in flag colors, sizes and symbols from location-to location can confuse beach visitors and decrease the effectiveness of community efforts to improve public safety.

Beach Warning Flags are 29.25" high x 39" wide.

The Beach Warning Flag Interpretive Signs explain the meaning of each flag
used in the warning program:

*   Red Flags with a “Do Not Swim” Logo: Water Closed to Public
*   Solid Red Flags: High Hazard- High Surf and/or Strong Currents
*   Yellow Flags: Medium Hazard - Moderate Surf and/or Currents
*   Green Flags: Low Hazard - Calm Conditions, Exercise Caution

*   Purple Flags: Dangerous Marine Life

Hi my friends,
today a little bit of education about "rip currents" at the beaches in Florida.
If you like to learn more, just Google this words and you'll get a lot of interesting articles and pages to read.
It's always good to be informed well about the danger of the ocean.
The photo shows the flag on one of those dangerous rip current beaches in FL.

Thank you very much for your kind comments to my "Wordless Sunday" post yesterday.
I'm happy you liked it!
I wish you a good start in this coming new week - make it to one of your best!

Quality Time Together

To spend some quality time together at the beach - or somewhere else - is necessary for a healthy relationship!

Hi my friends,
thank you for the kind comments from yesterday to my "Spider Lilly" flower. I got a lot of nice comments, a lot of visitors and one person also sent to me the following message on facebook:

Vickie wrote:
"Care of Wikipedia:  Hymenocallis (pronounced /ËŒhaɪmɨnəˈkælɪs/)[1] is a genus of plants in the family Amaryllidaceae. It contains 63 species native to tropical and subtropical America. Hymenocallis are bulbous perennial herbs. The flowers have their stamens united to a characteristic corona. Hymenocallis means "beautiful membrane" in Greek, which refers to the staminal corona that connects the stalks of the stamens for a portion of their length. The plants have large spectacular flowers. Some of the species are known as varieties of "spider lilies"."

Thank you so much, dear Vickie for telling me this, now I know the exact name of my Spider Lilly flower!
I'm learning everyday something new from my dear friends :)
It's great to have such nice friends - like YOU ALL!
Have a wonderful day - and don't forget to have some quality time today with your "better half"!

Miniature Sand Dunes

All love that has not friendship for its base, is like a mansion built upon the sand.
~Ella Wheeler Wilcox~

Hi my friends,

The photo above was made two days ago in the evening at the beach, close where I'm living. I've captured the last long sunbeams over the miniature sand dunes. I like this light situations, they are warm and so soft looking. It's the best time of the day for shooting photos, since I can't get up that early in the mornings :))

I hope you enjoy the picture!
Have a wonderful day,
Susanne

The "Hungry Ghost Full Moon" at the Beach

Aim for the moon. If you miss, you may hit a star.
~W. Clement Stone~

You can be the moon and still be jealous of the stars.
~Gary Allan~

Yeah we all shine on, like the moon, and the stars, and the sun.
~John Lennon~
Hi my friends,
This is now my first attempt to photograph the moon. It was yesterday at the beach - and it was a very special and beautiful moon. I had to wait quit a while until I saw him BIG and orange, rising from the horizon over the Atlantic Ocean. It was a great experience!
I know, these are not the best pictures at all, but as I told you, it was my first try.
I'm not sure if I will ever get an expert in photographing the moon, the stars or the universe...LOL...

he IS the expert and the master on his blog in these kind of photography and ask him, why this moon has such an interesting name like " The Hungry Ghost Full Moon".
I don't know the reason why :))
Thank you for all your kind comments to my wordless Sunday photo yesterday, my friends.
I wish you a wonderful week ahead.
Susanne
