Hi my friends,
We are heading back to Florida's Peninsula. We loved the emerald green water of the Gulf of Mexico - and we had a good time there. We were even thinking to settle down in Panama City and went out looking at some houses already. But, we didn't liked anything we have seen. Yep, I know it.... probably we are not that easy people if it comes to living accommodations, we have a certain taste and a lot of expectations for our new future home! But I'm optimistic, one day we will find THAT pretty little house to call it our new home :)
Thank you so much for all your kind comments to my last post. Love you all! :)
Stay with me, see ya' tomorrow in Florida again!

Girls, Girls, Girls...

the hot summer sun at the beach. Tomorrow I'll show you more beach scene photos.
Hi my friends,
thanks for all the wonderful comments and compliments to my last photo! :)
It felt like it was one of the hottest days today! But it was a very nice, relaxed afternoon, we both had fun watching all the beach people going by and looking out to the emerald green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. And we get sunburned too :)
I'll show you some pictures tomorrow, if I'll have Internet, o.k.? :)
Stay with us, we will be on the road again tomorrow.
See you there!

Don't fight!

thank you all for all the nice comments and compliments to my last post and to my last 1001 other posts over all the years I was blogging. Yep, this is my post #1002, today! Unbelievable also for me that I can be working on my blog such a long time and so focused :)
We are arrived at the beautiful Emerald Coast in the Panhandle of Florida - it is perfect weather here and the water is indeed emerald green! We have visited this Gulf region already 6 months ago, that was when we were starting out with our travels, going West the first time.
Who knows, maybe we will be heading towards West again - but first we like to enjoy the Gulf shores, the snow white sand beaches and getting also some sun tan...LOL... :)
Well, then....stay tuned with me - see you at the beach!

The Lighthouse in Key West

Built in 1847 to aid to ships navigating dangerous reefs off the lower Keys, the Key West Lighthouse now stands sentinel over one of
The tower was originally 46 feet high and powered by 15 oil lamps with 15-inch reflectors, but was extended to 86 feet in 1894. Inside visitors now climb 88 iron steps to the observation deck that affords spectacular views.
The tower and nearby Keeper's Quarters have been faithfully restored and maintained as they were before the lighthouse was deactivated in 1969. Many of the historic elements remain, including the pipes used to deliver acetylene gas that powered the light before it was electrified in 1927. The clapboard bungalow where the keepers and their families lived while maintaining the beacon has been recreated in turn-of-the-century style with historic furniture, furnishings and photos that provide a sense of life in
This light station was built after the hurricane of 1846 destroyed the original 1825 tower on the coast. It is the 15th oldest surviving lighthouse in the country.
But as intriguing as the structures themselves are the lives of the keepers who climbed the steps each day to clean and fuel the lamps, especially that of Barbara Mabrity, who took over after her husband died in 1832. She tended the lamps for the 32 years until at age 82 she was fired for making statements against the Union, which controlled
In 1998 the lighthouse was nominated for inclusion on the National Register of Historic Places as a National Historic Landmark, which would put it in the same category as the

A Visit to the Dry Tortugas - Series 6

This picture is the view from the top of Fort Jefferson and it gives me a feeling of eternity, peace and freedom: only blue water, clouds and horizon where ever your eyes are looking around.
After a very intresting guided tour in Fort Jefferson, take a walk on the walls all around the fort and enjoy nature, sunshine and the blue color of the water. You also will see many snorklers enjoying the crystal clear underwater scene.
It's just a perfect day out there - another part of paradise!
The white sandbar is the bird sanctuary across from Fort Jefferson.

Beach Time...
The umbrellas match exactly the color of the Gulf of Mexico.

Sit down and have a Pinacolada and enjoy the sun, sand and the water. It's almost like paradise!

A short Trip up to Marathon

Gestern haben wir einen kleinen Ausflug gemacht, die Keys hinauf bis nach Marathon. Wir hielten an diversen netten Orten, wie an diesem kleinen, sehr einladenden Beach auf Geiger Key.

Most everybody dreams of having a little island like this for their own privat getaway. Do you? It's right here in the Keys, come and get it.
Soviele traeumen von einer eigenen Insel wie diese hier. Gehoerst auch Du dazu? Sie ist hier in den Key's, die Insel deiner Traeume!

This is a view out from the car of the 7-Mile-Bridge who is connecting Big Pine Key and Marathon together. Between is nothing than water, water, water.... to the left the emerald green water of the Gulf of Mexico on the other side the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean.

This is the view on the way back home to Key West: the old 7 Mile-bridge on the right and the new bridge to the left in the sparkling late afternoon sunshine.
