Charleston Kaleidoscope - 2

I was a day ago walking around with my camera in the picturesque lanes of Charleston's Down Town. It was probably for the last time and I took the chance to say a quiet "Good Bye" to all the lovely and pretty places, before we will be leaving this wonderful town.

I don't like to go away from here because I know, I will miss all this beauty of the Southern lifestyle and hospitality!

I will miss also all the historical places and corners, all the big and impressive houses and the stories behind!

I will miss also all the pretty small houses, hidden away in private backyards!

And I will miss also all the many beautiful galleries where we spent many hours looking to the great art of artists from and about "The Lowcountry" here in South Carolina. Yes, Charleston is magic, Charleston is beautiful and Charleston will have always a special place in my heart!


There will be more "Good Bye" photos posted in the next days, stay with me!

I love it very much to stroll the streets and all the small lanes of Charleston - and it's beautiful the most in the beginning warm evening lights.

Sorry, but I don't know the names of all these houses or streets - I'm enjoying more the details and the atmosphere of the moment. And when my camera clicks and I know, that I captured a nice scene in a good picture, that's what makes me happy.

Hot Summer Day in Down Town

Summer is the time of all kind of outdoor activities. Some people like to do sport, some people like to be at the beach and this guy here you will see allover town doing his great plain air paintings on canvas. He is a nice and interesting guy, my husband and I had a small talk with him about art, life and his paintings of course.

Beware of the Lions!

Having a look behind the fences sometimes can be very interesting, exciting and also reveling. I love to do that, it gives me an idea about the people who are living behind the fences in all these beautiful, lush gardens - like this one here.
It is pretty, clean and well organized and tasteful styled - only one thing: Beware of the Lions!!!!

Scent of Jasmine

Jasmine or Jessamine (Jasminum) (from Persian yasmin, i.e. "gift from God"^[1][2], via Arabic^[3]) is a genus of shrubs and vines in the olive family (Oleaceae),with about 200 species, native to tropical and warm temperate regions of the Old World. The majority of species grow as climbers on other plants or on structures. The leaves can be either evergreen or deciduous, and are opposite in most species; leaf shape is simple, trifoliate or pinnate with up to nine leaflets. Jasmine tea is also very efficient against coughs, sore throats or other problems to do with the bronchites.

Charleston's Flowers

These pictures were photographed one week ago in Cypress Gardens and in Down Town and I hope they are not gone by this cold weather we have just now here in Charleston.

It's way to cold for the blooming nature and way more too cold for us - me and David - sun spoiled kids from Key West, as we are! We are still not used to this very cool temperatures up here in the "North". :-))

It just happened when I was there, a video crew were filming for a new commercial. Two students from the Citadel are waiting for their act.

Art in the Park

Set on the banks of the beautiful Cooper River, Riverfront Park has been built near the historic homes once occupied by the Naval Base Admiral and officers, surrounded by graceful old oak trees and peaceful river vistas. Bordered by Noisette Creek, the park boasts a magnificent contemporary Performance Pavilion and Grand Lawn. The national Outdoor Sculpture Competition and Exhibition is installed there. Later included were the Shipyard Memorial and Boardwalk.
