Nice wildlife collection. I agree with several other folks...the last shot of the pelican is outstanding. The colors are great and love the lighting.

Hi earl,

Ohh Susanne, stop teasing meeeee, you know how much I love birds, lol. The white heron is actually white egret if I am not mistaken. We had three that stopped by our local pond when migrating. And I saw some at the zoo, very nice bird. The pelicans are very nice too, got none, last time I saw pelican was last year at Hannover Zoo in Germany. They were walking between people, just being one of us, lol. Great post as always Susanne. Anna :)

Hi Anna,
I was not sure, since you wrote me it is NOT a Heron bird. But "Wiki" tells you everything (with Photos), and this is what I read there:

The Great Egret Ardea alba, also known as the Great White Egret, White Heron, or Common Egret, is a wading egret, found in most of the tropical and warmer temperate parts of the world, although it is very local in southern Europe and Asia. It is called Kōtuku in New Zealand. It is sometimes confused with the Great White Heron in Florida, which is a white morph of the Great Blue Heron.

That mangrove shot is beautiful. Last time I was in the keys, my wife and I took kayaks into the mangroves and spent about 4 hours doing it. Seeing them up close is unreal - the amount of life that mangroves support is amazing. All kinds of fish, crabs, bugs, birds...but you know this already. :P

Hi Pete,

I'm glad you liked the shot, thanks for your comment!

I have never made a kajak ride into the mangroves, but I've enjoyed always to see all the birds sitting there in a wonderful evening light, getting ready to sleep.
