A Visit to the Dry Tortugas - Series 6

Take a ride with this small airplane for visiting the Dry Tortugas Islands or catch the Ferry early in the morning.

This picture is the view from the top of Fort Jefferson and it gives me a feeling of eternity, peace and freedom: only blue water, clouds and horizon where ever your eyes are looking around.

After a very intresting guided tour in Fort Jefferson, take a walk on the walls all around the fort and enjoy nature, sunshine and the blue color of the water. You also will see many snorklers enjoying the crystal clear underwater scene.

It's just a perfect day out there - another part of paradise!

The white sandbar is the bird sanctuary across from Fort Jefferson.

Do you remember the warm days in the south...? These two beach chairs are still there waiting for you to relax and enjoy the sunshine at the beach - far away from the frosty cold temperatures probably you have now.... See you there!

Damit ihr bei diesen eisigen Temperaturen nicht ganz vergisst, wie warm und schoen es sein kann im Sueden, habe ich dieses Bild online getan. ....und die zwei Strandstuehle sind immer noch frei....! Wer ist zuerst...?

If you look closer you will recognize my favorite color again in this photograph - yes it's blue! I call it "Triplets" because they are holding together strong, fighting all the storms, winds and waves out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Unverkennbar wieder ist meine Lieblingsfarbe Blau in diesem Bild. Ich nenne es "Drillinge" weil sie alle drei stark zusammenhalten um dem Wind, dem Sturm und den Wellen weit aussen im Golf zu trotzen.

Dieses Foto vermittelt fuer mich ein Gefuehl von Ewigkeit. Die Augen schweifen langsam uebers blaue Wasser zum blauen Horizont in der Ferne. Keine Grenzen und keine Enge! Nur Weite und Ruhe - ein sich immer wiederholender Rhytmus: Ewigkeit?!

This picture reflects the image of "freedom" in every way. It was made on my last Dry Tortugas trip.

Reif fuer die Insel......? Abgeschiedenheit, Ruhe und Erholung waeren garantiert auf dieser kleinen Insel! Ja richtig gelesen: waeren... wenn es nicht ein Naturschutzgebiet (Vogelreservat) waere, draussen auf den Dry Tortugas, 152Km SW von Key West gelegen.

This picture was made on a almost perfect day trip to the Dry Tortugas with my friend from Switzerland, Heidi, when she visited me in Key West last spring. We had a great time together! There will be more pictures from that series later.
