Mallory Square Circus

Mallory Square is a unique place where you can watch the sunset, where you can see good and not so good street performers doing their acts and where you can buy also some hand crafted souvenirs and art from the street vendors - and this every night!
A must to be there when you're in Key West!

All try to make some bucks out of you, if there is a Tarot card reader...

...or "The Great Rondini"- an escape artist who says from him self, that he is there for more than 30 years...

...or Mark, another street performer, who even made it recently to become the president of this organization(!!!)...

...or performing fire eater Will and his wife....

...or all the craft and art people with their stands, they all are so desperate to get some money too, money that pays their bills...

...or a soldier tries to get a tribute in form of money for his fallen friends...

Key West is sell able in all kind of crafts....

and not to forget all the dog lovers....

He has found the right gift to take home - a photograph of a sunset!

And there is Dave, he is singing for money every night - and often he goes home with almost nothing! But, that's the life of all Mallory Square participants, one day is good the next is bad. There is only one recipe: To come every day and never to give up your HOPE of "maybe there is a better day tomorrow"!

Hi my friends,

thank you again so much for all your support, comments and compliments. I'm fine again, maybe 80% - but yesterday I had my husband with 104F fever in bed. Today he feels better again and every coming day will be better for both of us, I know that. It's a hard life in this little RV if you are sick, believe me - not fun at all. But, weed never dies, right?

Tomorrow we will make our first bigger decision, where to go, which direction to choose. Since it's still cold enough in the northern regions and Tornadoes in the Midwest at this time of the year (!!) it's not easy to know what's the right thing to do!
Any recommendations....???

Stay tuned...I'm sitting here in the office of the campground and happily able to have connections! See you all...

Susanne and David

Key West Collage

Click in the picture to see it bigger....

Thank you to all my friends for all your kind comments and compliments to my post from yesterday. I don't feel very good today, I think I got a cold in very COLD Key West with an icy wind. That's the reason why I did this collage for you to show you as much impressions of my tropical island paradise, as I can.

See you later, I'll be back soon with more photos.

We are planning to drive back to the mainland today, it depends how I'll feel....

Time to say Good Bye!

The cruise ship is leaving the dock at Mallory Square. For all 2000 passengers on board of that giant it's time to say good bye to the island and looking forward to travel to a new country. Next destinations are Cancun, Mexico or the Virgin Islands. I have seen this scene now so many times, but it gives me still today a feeling of that "travel fever"....!

Mallory Square Impressions

This is my lovely husband, David, with his booth at Mallory Square, where he is selling his original Fine Art Paintings and prints of Key West scenes and tropical subjects. He is a very talented artist and his work can be found all over the world in many collections and private homes.

You can see more of his work on our website
www.vanhulstart.com

Here you can see the big traffic that we have almost every evening and especially on weekends, like yesterday. A lot of the visitors were Jimmy Buffet's Parrotheads who had their fun weekend on the island.

And this woman looks somehow like me.... with two customers at my booth who are looking at my photographs that I sell.

If you look closer into the picture, you will see Alex (with the hat) our performer guy with his juggling act shortly before sunset. Can you see what a wonderful, dramatic sunset going on in the back of the picture?

People from all over the world are watching this spectacle at
Mallory Square.

And this is the fantastic view that I have (almost) every night at Mallory Square. I would never ever trade this place with any indoor job in the world. To be able to see mother nature's magic and to be "at work" in the same time, is priceless!
