Life on housboat row

In the back of the picture you can see many of the houseboats where people are living in, close to the Garrison Bight Marina.

Lovely maritime picture! Houseboats was popular in Norway too, but of course it's kind of rough considering the winter climate.

I find that you live in a place surrounded by enchantment. :o)

Hi Renny,
I can imagine, knowing that the Norwegian winters can be very hard, that's not to much fun to live on a boat at your altitude. Not so here in Key West, we have the sun almost every day on our site.:-)
Thanks for commenting.

Do the house boats ever leave the dock - some of them seem so top-heavy.

Hi Kathy,

Thanks for your comment.

To answer your question: NO, they don't leave and those houses ARE heavy! In a Hurricane situation, the residents in house boats and mobile homes are the first who HAVE to leave town.

Sue, is it your boat? anyway very nice photo : )

That's a nice picture Sue. We don't see much of the boats here and I couldn't imagine living on the water but it would be nice waking up to such a magnificent view everyday.

Hi DigitalShutterMania,

no, it's not my boat. I can not afford to have a boat down here with all this expensive prices for making a living, where a little VERY small 1/1 apartment costs from $950 up to $1400 per month.

Thanks for commenting!

Hi Michele,

I don't know if I want to live on a house boat...it's to much shaking all the time. I think I would be sea sick pretty soon. I'm already sea sick after shooting a wedding on a boat for 2 hours...LOL..

Thanks for you nice comment!
