On the same journey we've also visited Pawleys Island and the legendary grave yard
Pawleys Island, SC is located 70 miles north of Charleston and 25 miles south of Myrtle Beach and is known as one of the oldest summer resorts on the East Coast
I love old cemeteries and this one was very special in any kind
Here is also the writer J.Dickey buried who wrote the novel to the movie "Deliverance" filmed in 1972
The legendary grave stone of Alice Flagg who returns every night and people have seen her walking around her grave,
still looking for her lost wedding ring.
Notice please: there is no grass growing anymore around her grave!
Rest in peace Alice!
It is said that Alice has been seen wandering the cemetery looking for her lost ring ever since her death. Local legend also says that if you walk backwards around her grave 13 times, you will feel a tug on your ring or ring finger.

Hey Susanne, my wife loves cemeteries as well. What would be cool, is an image of her ghost, I mean just spend a few nights out there never know,lol.

Susanne, The spider web on the cross says something
to me. It's almost ghostly like an old museum or an attic. The composition really high lights the symbolism of the cross and sets up many questions about the background of the shot. It really intrigues me for some reason. The blanket on the ground with the mementoes from the night before. It appears that a homeless person has slept there. Or it's the ghost waiting for a proper time to move on.

I like the story about Alice. Did you try walking round the grave to see if you felt a tug.... Somehow i think even though it's a story I would still be a little spooked out to do it. LOL. lovely images Sue and great commentary too.

I did not walked the grave, but it was very "strange" feeling to photograph the name on the stone, something "heavy", probably the spirit was there around you, you could feel it. :-)

I think the missing grass around the grave results from both: from Alice her self walking around every night - and of course from all the tourists, who try to walk backwards 13 times...funny story, right? :-)
Hi, I visited alice's grave this summer and I walked around 13 times. I didn't experience anything but I didn't know you are suppose to leave a token of some kind for her. I plan to revisit next year.
